Bubble Mountain (thank you @harkla_family for this awesome idea!) is my new favorite thing to do in therapy. Here's why:
👉It helps with breathing! we work on keeping the tip of the tongue on the spot, teeth closed, lip rounding and jaw contraction while blowing. We practice filling up our body with air from our nose and then slowly blowing it out. Sometimes we time how long our "out" breath bubbles is. ...and since no one likes sucking up bubbles, it reinforces filling up with air through the nose instead of the mouth.🤯
👉Wet sensory input! Have your child try to pop the bubbles or hide toys inside the bubbles and then find them.
👉Reflex integration. Did you know this could help with integrating the rooting reflex. If you have your child do it on their tummy on the floor it can help with the TLR and Landau reflex too!
👉Oral motor skills. Engaging the muscles in the cheeks, lips and tongue. We can work to build strength awareness and coordination.
Try it out and let me know how it goes!
As always, feel free to reach out for support😊
